Role: Media Coordinator
Hours: 30 hours/week
Pay Rate: $16/hr.
Start: Immediately
End: August 29, 2026

Location: Hybrid with some travel within Winnipeg
Trans Manitoba (TMB) began as a grassroots collective of folks who believe the radical idea that Two Spirits, nonbinary people, and transgender folks should speak for ourselves and be seen as critical stakeholders in decisions made for our lives. We advocate for systemic change to improve the lives of Manitobans of all genders through outreach, education, and political and legal action.

This role is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Grant, which requires that applicants are between the ages of 18 and 30 at the time the employment begins.
Trans Manitoba’s Media Coordinator will work with the Trans Manitoba team to plan and execute a social media strategy that supports the we belong project as well as the organization’s fundraising efforts and advocacy campaigns. This role is accountable to the Executive Director.
Participate in the creation, digitalization, publication, and promotion of we belong project deliverables
Attend regional Pride events on behalf of Trans Manitoba
Report on Canada Summer Jobs Grant as required by funder
Video & media production for we belong project
Video & media production for social media
Co-facilitation of we belong advisory council meetings
Planning and executing fundraising events
Participate in the creation, digitalization, publication, and promotion of WAGE project deliverables
Develop policies & procedures for Trans Manitoba employees and board
Respond to the needs of the team by participating in teamwork and completing other duties as assigned
Education and/or experience in communications, media, content creation
Lived experience as a 2SLGBTQIA+ person
Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team of employees, contractors, students, & volunteers
Confident use of Microsoft suite, Google suite, Canva
Facilitation of group discussions, including managing potential conflict and perspectives from people with different experiences and backgrounds
Education in Women’s and Gender Studies, Sociology, Community Development, or Communications
Experience with small-scale event planning
Experience in managing project budgets
Experience working in non-profit sector
